Gangcha County: Ethnic Costumes "Going To The Sea" To Enter The International Market

Faced with the plight of the continuous downturn in the prices of raw materials of sheepskin and yak hair, Gangcha County, Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Haibei successfully realized the transformation and upgrading of the traditional fur and cashmere industry through cross provincial cooperation, industrial chain integration and high value-added product development.

Gangcha invested more than 4 million yuan to build an agricultural and animal husbandry incubation park, innovatively adopted the mode of "exporting Shandong tanning+local deep processing", transported raw materials to Shandong for tanning and then green processing, attracted 8 processing enterprises to settle down, and built a complete industrial chain from raw material acquisition, tanning, cashmere to finished product manufacturing. After the upgrade, the average price of sheepskin jacket has risen to 3300 yuan/piece, and the price of yak cashmere raw materials has increased five times to 50 yuan/kg, driving the total annual output value of the cattle and cashmere industry to exceed 16 million yuan.

The park operates in the mode of "helping workshops+farmers". It annually purchases more than 80000 Tibetan sheepskins and more than 20 tons of yak hair, develops 28 types of high value-added products such as cashmere sweaters, hats, scarves, traditional Tibetan clothes, and modern fashion, and directly attracts 32 people to work, with an average monthly salary of 3200 yuan. The industrial radiation effect appeared synchronously, driving the coordinated development of upstream and downstream industries such as breeding, slaughtering, logistics, etc., and signed an order for Tibetan clothing worth 300000 yuan and an agreement of intent worth 200000 yuan respectively with Tianjun County, Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Haixi and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Golog.

With the help of e-commerce channels, the daily online sales of ethnic clothing exceeded 640000 yuan, and 12 products such as cashmere sweaters and hats were sold to Russia, the United States, France and other countries through cross-border e-commerce. The relevant person in charge of Gangcha County said that he would continue to deepen brand building and promote Gangcha national costumes to a broader international market.
