Xiamen Relaxes The Insured Conditions For Migrant Workers' Children

Xiamen has recently issued new regulations to expand the scope of medical insurance for migrant workers' children.

In order to effectively reduce the burden of medical expenses for migrant workers' children, the new regulations require that children from migrant workers should be extended to all minors under the age of 18 starting from July 1, 2008.

Prior to this, only those employed by the employing units in the city and signing a labor contract for more than one year of temporary residence permits, and migrant workers who had paid social insurance premiums, their children in primary and secondary schools in the city could be insured.

At the same time, the subsidy standard of Xiamen city and district finance to minors is raised from 50 yuan per person to 190 yuan per year, and the personal medical insurance premium is reduced from 50 yuan per person per year to 80 yuan.
