UPS UAV Express Has FAA Approval Scale And Unlimited Number Of Operators.

On October 10th, UPS, a global logistics giant, was recently approved by the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States (FAA) to enable it to operate an UAV fleet to expand the delivery of unmanned aerial vehicles.

It is reported that FAA has awarded Part 135 standard certification to UPS's UPS Flight Forward. With this certification, UPS has the right to run any number of UAVs wherever it chooses.

Part 135 certification does not limit the size or operation scope of UAV fleet, nor does it limit the number of operators. It allows UAVs to carry more than 55 pounds of load, but the flight outside the line of sight of the operator requires specific approval, and each new launch site needs to be independently approved by the regulator.

Flight Forward plans to use the approval to send parcels to hospitals and campuses. UPS chief executive David Abner (David Abney) said that after that, it could expand to other campus type environments, even families.

In March of this year, UPS began using unmanned aerial vehicles to transport medical samples to a hospital in Rowley, North Carolina. Up to now, the company has made 1000 similar flights.

The media understands that in April of this year, Google Wing, a UAV express company under Alphabet, officially obtained first UAV express licenses issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In the coming months, the company plans to provide UAV delivery services in two rural communities in Virginia.

In June of this year, Amazon also announced the launch of the latest delivery UAV. In addition, Uber is also making efforts to transport UAVs, and this summer began sending takeout with drones in San Diego.
