The cotton planting area in the United States may increase, but due to the continuous rainfall below the normal level in the cotton producing areas of Texas and Alabama, the rate of abandoned cotton in the United States is likely to increase.


Data show that since the end of August this year, Texas has a total rainfall of only 20.2 mm, less than the five year average of 27 percentage points; Luis Anna S is below the five year average of 43 percentage points.

The weather model shows that the drought in the western part of Texas will continue until next May, due to the influence of La Nina meteorology and the sowing period (usually 3-6 months).
