Our recent research shows that China's current dissolving pulp capacity is difficult to meet the market demand, which is undoubtedly a strong support for the price trend of dissolving pulp this year.

Research shows that in the three textile materials, natural fiber (especially cotton) yield is constrained by the decrease of cultivated area and the increase of production cost; the demand for synthetic fiber is limited because of its difficulty in degradation and comfort, and the global economic growth has increased the overall demand for textile materials.

This brings room for growth in demand for third kinds of textile materials viscose staple fiber.

Because more than 60% of the world's textile industry is concentrated in China, as the raw material of viscose staple fiber, the current dissolving pulp production capacity in China is hard to meet customer demand, and the price will continue to rise.

In 2011, the domestic demand for wood dissolving pulp is expected to exceed 2 million 200 thousand tons, and the actual output of wood dissolving pulp is not more than 300 thousand tons this year. At the same time, the number of imported wood dissolving pulp is not expected to exceed 1 million 100 thousand tons. That is, there is a demand gap of at least 800 thousand tons (the gap accounts for 36% of the total demand), which will form a strong support for the price trend of dissolving pulp this year.

We expect that the dissolving pulp will be dominated by wood dissolving pulp in the future.

According to the current production planning of the mainstream slurry enterprises, China will add 900 thousand tons of capacity from the beginning of 2011 to the beginning of 2013, and the overseas will add 800 thousand tons of capacity.

It is estimated that the supply and demand of dissolving pulp market will be balanced in 2013.

We believe that dissolving pulp can be produced on the industrial chain of wood chip dissolving pulp viscose fiber.

Paper making enterprises

There are no technical barriers and obvious differentiated products, but viscose staple fiber enterprises require considerable technical expertise, and diversified viscose fiber demand continues to be strong.

Therefore, although the profit point is concentrated in the production process of dissolving pulp due to the imbalance between supply and demand, the profit point will inevitably be pferred to viscose staple enterprises with technological strength and differentiated products after the supply and demand balance in the future.

In addition, China's special environmental protection policy has led to the pulp and paper enterprises mainly dissolving pulp production capacity in the form of chemical pulp instead of "new expansion", which will reduce the supply of domestic chemical pulp in the next two years.

And China's paper production will continue to maintain steady growth of about 6% annually, and the demand for chemical pulp will also increase at the same time.

This will inevitably lead to a simultaneous rise in the price of pulp for domestic paper making, and the profit point will also be pferred to enterprises with huge pulp production capacity.
