Recently, the European Union announced standard EN The 1811:2011 amendment specifies whether the nickel release content of jewelry and other metal parts that have been in direct contact with skin for a long time meets the required standard. The new standard will be more helpful to judge whether the product conforms to the REACH regulation annex XVII.

Nickel is a common metal, which is widely used clothing and shoes In the metal alloy accessories of Class A products, such as buttons, zippers, rivets, clothing accessories and ornaments, jewelry, etc. However, nickel is a substance that is easy to cause contact allergy. After long-term contact with the skin, it will be absorbed by the skin and cause sensitization. stay exit In European daily necessities such as clothing and shoes, if there are metal accessories containing nickel in their material composition, it is generally required to detect the standard release amount of nickel.

Previous standard EN 1811:2011 The concept of "measurement uncertainty" was used in the test of metal parts in contact with the skin, which defined three kinds of test results, namely, compliance, non-compliance and uncertainty. Where "uncertainty" means that the result is 0.50 µ g/cm2/week, resulting in some ambiguous results being classified as "uncertain".

However, the new revision simplified the requirements for compliance and deleted the "uncertainty" item. The nickel release results required by REACH regulations were accurately defined: the nickel release in rear components and human body piercing category was 0.35 Pass below µ g/cm2/wk, Fail above, Pass below 0.88 µ g/cm2/wk for other components in long-term and direct contact with skin, Fail above.
